Dr Laurence Marrama Rakotoarivony has been an expert working on Emerging and Vector-borne Diseases in the European Centre for Disease prevention and Control since 2010.
She received a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, Masters in Statistics, Epidemiology and Immunology, a Ph. D. in life science, as well as a postgraduate diploma in Medical and Veterinary Entomology and an assistant professor degree (HDR).
She has been working on vector-borne diseases since 1994. She has studied the transmission and epidemiology of malaria, yellow fever, Rift Valley fever, dengue, in the field, in different regions of the world, Madagascar, Senegal and Guadeloupe.
Her major scientific interest is the study and analysis of populations’ distribution and risk factors of vector-borne diseases, using data-mining, spatial methods and modelling.
