The positive effects of sport and physical exercise on the health and wellbeing of the general population are well known. Nevertheless, promoting healthy practice of sport and correct application of treatment protocols for injuries, developing new practices in sports medicine and promoting regular physical exercise to maintain and improve health and quality of life are issues that must be continually updated.
The International Center for Scientific Debate (ICSD) and the MuscleTech Network, a network for knowledge in the field of skeletal muscle and tendons driven by the FC Barcelona Foundation and the Leitat Technological Centre with support from the Secretariat General for Sport, are organizing the second MuscleTech Network Workshop From Translational Research to Translational Medicine, from 27 to 29 September 2010 at the Colet Museum in Barcelona.
The event will focus on the state of research in the field of muscles and tendons, promoting the exchange of knowledge and ideas, identifying opportunities, creating new consortia to promote research and, in short, tackling new scientific challenges related to both sport and general society. The workshop aims to raise awareness of the social and economic impact that improved knowledge of muscles and tendons through innovations in diagnosing, treating and preventing muscle and tendon injuries can have on society workshop.
Over this three-day workshop, more than 70 representatives from national and international research groups at hospitals and universities will visit Barcelona.
